Spend 36 hours in China, and someone is going to repeat Confucius's aphorism of "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." I think the old dude was on to something here. If you are not operating in China yet, China is not going to save your 2010 numbers. Its not going to save your 2011 or (probably) your 2012 numbers. China is a longer-term play but you gotta start some time! And for most companies, there doesn't seem to be a lot that is attractive in their home markets, so why not beat the holiday rush and start China now. Thanks for weighing in! Excellent point, Dave. If you are not operating in China yet, China is not going to save your 2010 numbers. Its not going to save your 2011 or (probably) your 2012 numbers. China is a longer-term play but you gotta start some time! And for most companies, there doesn’t seem to be a lot that is attractive in their home markets, so why not beat the holiday rush and start China now.

You've coached us all through the importance of being bold, honoring relationships, and staying committed for the long term. Good to get started in 2010, but think through 2015.
