Steve Ganster

Managing Director

As a founder of Technomic Asia, Steve has extensive experience across multiple industries and geographies through over 30 years of international consulting. He has completed over 600 assignments for many of the world’s leading companies, assisting clients in international market entry and strategy development throughout Asia and China since the early 1980s. He has broad industry experience through his many years of consulting. Steve has established offices across Asia and has practical background in partner assessment, alternative structural formats and organic business development. He is a frequent speaker on topics related to business development and growth in Asia. He is author of the book, “The China Ready Company”, and has won an Emmy for his role in the development of the DVD series, “On the Frontlines: Doing Business in China”. Steve has a working knowledge of Chinese and Japanese.

Steve Crandall

Steve has nearly 20 years consulting and business strategy experience in China. He has first hand experience creating companies leading start-ups in automotive, chemical, and building materials. Steve also created sales and account management teams for Parker Hannifin, Ernst & Young, and Ford Motor Company.

Steve has an impressive background on the technical side having led two companies to ISO 9001 and 14000 certifications. His attention to detail was honed starting a consulting practice for PRI, a boutique PE/consulting firm in Beijing as well as his fluency in Chinese which he has spoken for 25 years.  Steve combines experience in market planning with practical, operational roles for companies in China.

Qi has worked for many years on market strategy and inward investment opportunities in China. His previous position was with a provincial unit of MOFTEC based in Hangzhou. He has extensive experience in industrial and consumer products across multiple industries. Qi possesses an in-depth understanding of the Chinese business environment and has special expertise in relationship issues, SOE structural areas as well as governmental roles and behaviors. He has developed a specific process to evaluate a company’s structure and inter relationships and is a published author on “Relationship Mapping” in a prestigious US journal. Qi is also part of Technomic’s acquisition service team. Qi was a British Chevening Scholar and is fluent in Mandarin and English and has a working knowledge of German.

Andrew Liu

Andrew joined Technomic in 1994, and has since completed numerous consulting assignments in chemicals, healthcare, consumer products and industrial markets, involving both planning and implementation of market entry strategies. He has particular skills in competitive assessment/SWOT and market entry strategy planning. Andrew has worked with Technomic clients from exploration of market opportunities all the way through negotiation of alliance deals. He is a native speaker of Mandarin and Shanghainese, and also speaks Cantonese and English fluently.

Jessie Hu

Jessie is a senior manager with Technomic Asia and has led programs in market assessment, competitive intelligence and M&A in addition to supply chain optimization programs for major consumer products companies. She has been working with multi-national companies in China for more than 20 years. Her background includes senior operational positions responsible for setting up western invested manufacturing operations in China, from contract negotiation to full operation, from WFOE, JV to state-own company acquisition. Most recently, Jessie was China M&A Project Manager for GKN, a British automotive enterprise with operations in China. Jessie also has over 7 years working experience in IT consulting with Fourth Shift Asia, as the East China Regional Manager for ERP solution and was the Demand Stream Country Manager for lean manufacturing automation solutions.

Daniel Liu

Daniel Liu has worked in Technomic Asia for nearly eight years and his main duties include project management, competitive analysis and SWOT, M&A candidate and business partner identification, screening and due diligence as well as general strategy development. Prior to joining Technomic Asia, he worked at JP International Investment Consulting as an Investment Consultant for foreign companies to enter and grow in the China market where he conducted market surveys and comprehensive market analysis, partner assessments, workshops with foreign clients to create China market entry strategies, supported foreign clients in business negotiations and local marketing and sales support. His consulting projects have exposed Daniel to numerous industries in China, notably automotive, machinery, industrial products, etc. Prior to his consulting career Daniel worked at the China Ocean Shipping Co. (COSCO) for 4 years . In addition to his native Mandarin, he speaks English fluently.

Ivy Liu

Ivy started her consulting career at an American consulting firm, where she was a research analyst and consulting assistant. She has excellent knowledge and experience on research and field interviews. She has done a wide range of FMCG work, including mid to high end apparel & accessories, stationary, food and cosmetics, home accessories and bedding, etc., assisting on market entry and business strategies. She has particular experience in assessing the opportunities and approaches for US well known brands in China. She has also been active in M&A Advisory support in China’s foodservice industry. Ivy is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and is fluent in English.
